Living in Melbourne, Victoria. Renting property for 3.5 years. Large 5 bedroom house. My elderly mum, my 2 teen kids and me. Mum was paying half rent but she was not “on” lease agreement. Now mum has gone into an aged care facility. She cannot contribute to rent and I cannot afford rent by myself. Fixed term lease till September 2021. Paid up till end of May 2021. Two facts- mum is in permanent aged care and no longer financially contributing to our rent and I cannot afford to pay full rent by myself. I have given notice but I’m worried I will have to pay ongoing rent if no replacement tenant is found. The rent is over $3100 pcm. What are my options?
