Moving into our first apartment was so exciting, it was brand new, modern and we felt very lucky to be accepted into the property that had about 30 apartments.
But boy were we in for a ride.
We had nails in our carpet from the first day we moved in (which is a huge problem for someone who falls alot and has seizures), we had paint peeling off the walls as they just painted it with cieling paint, we had to call for help as the washing machine set up was completely unuseable, waited 2 weeks for someone to be sent out and help us with the washing machine (drilling holes and fixing the piping)
We had problems with all our locks, the locks on the windows were not functioning and were actually just glued in place, this meant you couldn't open the windows.
Our front door wouldn't lock for a while there, because they had apparently just placed it in, thus only one of us could leave the house at a time.
We then had many problems with other tenants touching our car, writing cuss words in the halls, leaving trash all over the carpark and smashing out elevator lights.
The real estate refused to get involved or anything.
Whilst other tenants were allowed cats and what not, we were not allowed an assistance dog for my condition.
I had my agent call me at work, and yell at me for wasting her time and what not, even having my boss at the time listen into the conversations for abuse i would cop.
After refusing me the right to medical treatment and refusing to fix various problems in the apartment we were granted permission to move before lease had ended. (they obviously knew they were in the wrong by this point, since you can not deny a medical assistance dog.)
Every week, i had to call this agent, multiple times, since she was "out" and would not return calls.
Every week there was a new problem with the appartments. It was extremely stressful knowing that these people, our agent, who was meant to just help us out when we request repairs and what not, refused.
I ended up paying for a key to the apartment, which cannot be used into the apartment block. I said id rather give it back to the locksmith to be destroyed, they told me "Then we classify you as still living there" Even though we would not be able to access the building.
We also informed them of a possible leak in the wall. Mind you, how can you look really through a wall, we said we never noticed it.
She called me a lair and said its a high traffic area and it was our fault.
We dropped it. Gave her the key and said nothing more of the leak.
Relieved! This was all over! We could move into a beautiful house, with a yard and forget this disgusting place we had to live in as well as the abusive and stressful agents.
Again, we were wrong, the proceed to attempt to take nearly $600 in "damages" we had done to the property out of our bond.
This included some of the things that were already falling apart like the taps that stopped working and the paint that was peeling off the walls, was apparently us hanging pictures. This was easily disproven when this had to come to court.
They even trying to sue us for water, which we had said we would pay just give us the bill, but put it there anyway and we didnt receive the bill.
Real estate wanted full amount for damages and cleaning, which listed things like "dust" (which they had created put holes in to powerpoints) and a handprint on the mirror. The judge was horrified to fine that they had "paid" someone nearly $600 for 5 hours of cleaning in the apartment.
Which included floors and walls that were not listed as a problem, sinks and all sorts, that were not listed as a problem , but the agent wanted us to pay for the whole thing.
The judge asked us what we wanted to pay, we said how about $100 plus water, and she said sounds good.
$150 total.
Couldnt even be bothered arguing at this point, wed been there for hours, because they wanted $600 for something they were going to do already.

Broken locks Broken promises

I rented from.MyPlace and the locks on the outside door broke. I was robbed three times, the last time while I was asleep in the unit.

When I mentioned that the security for an inner city unit was obviously inadequate the staff did not respond.

Eventually the stress of the situation got to me. I made myself homeless to escape.
